How to reach your first 10 users using Instagram
This approach might work for you if you are in the product idea stage… and like wanna reach out to a few potential users of your product, talk to them and understand the problem better.
Instagram is a lot more than just a photo-sharing social media app right?. There is a niche for everything on Instagram, people follow people(creators) who create content about a niche they like. Brands reach out to those creators whose audiences are the target users for their products. They pay them for advertising their product and get users or leads. It works well because...
Niches on Instagram is like a community of people that like the same thing and most of those people can be grouped by followers of a few accounts in that niche.
So, there is an account with a few thousand followers and they are your target users, how to reach out to at least 10 of them. Well, If you think you can go to the following section of that account and cold DM people? I bet they won't reply to you, at least low probability and Instagram will block you from sending DM for some time if you keep sending too many DMs(experience)
A better way would be to engage with them on the comments section of that account, if the creator is active and posts regularly, their audience will make discussions, ask questions in the comments section. You can engage with them by replying to their comments, asking questions related to your assumptions. ask questions related to that niche. Few people might reply to you in comments and now you DM the people with whom you engaged in comments, they are more likely to reply to you, have a conversation with them about the problem that you are solving for, and then maybe text them the survey or signup form or MVP or whatever. It works people convert and it’s all based on your conversation skills.
This whole process can be described as a marketing funnel and might work on platforms as well. Experiment!
So, that’s how I got my first 10 users to experiment with my startup idea which didn’t work well.
